DISCovered talents
This is the name of our new program, thanks to the REX Shelter Foundation for giving us place and time for it.
As you know I have a shelter dog (Morgan), and after a rehabilitation she became a great partner for any doggie activities. And there are more potential athletes at the shelters, but nobody knows about them. These dogs are bored and sometimes they are living there for years while people are spending lot of money for puppies of agility champions. So we try to give these forgotten talents a chance to show their qualities. So we have a training at the REX Shelter on every Thursday afternoon: we try to find the gifted dogs and help them to learn the basics of disc dogging. It’s fun for them, and gives a new chance for finding a new home. Nobody wants a barking, destroying dog, but a disc dog is cool
Short news
Just some words about what happened in last two weeks:
- Some people popped up from my past – it’s really interesting, I didn’t meet them for years, and now they called me. An old friend, a client and somebody who was my boss seven years ago.
- I have withdrawal syndromes of dog programs, and because of this I entered to a dog-dancing competition with ALL of my dogs. It will be on next Sunday in Austria, but I’m already close to ‘never again’ statement.
- We had many possibilities in last weeks to introduce disc dogging in television. It’s great, but makes difficulties in my weekdays – most of my clients and pupils are watching television all day…
- and sad news of yesterday: the first wheelchair-assistant dog of Hungary has died
He was 12 years old. He was there in almost every disc-dog competition in Hungary, because his owner, Ricsi is one of our greatest judges.
